My name is Fabian Fontela and one can say I’m a magician. I was born and raised in Brussels by Spanish parents, it’s important for later in the story. I fell in love with magic at a very young age like most kids do, I was 5. The difference in my case is that, it was late at night, in a hospital due to some health issues and since that day, I almost never stopped doing magic. I was not aware of how to learn magic so I basically taught myself, trying to find some books in libraries and learning and practicing every little magic trick I could find, even the ones on the cereal boxes. When I was 16, my dad took me to a special event for magicians, like an open door type of event. There , I learned about magic shops and magics books, which was the next step that year.
But what changed my life was, when I went to live in the United States for a year when I was 17. I had the luck and privilege to land up in the family of a great magician known over there, Mike Powers. First of all, that’s not a stage name but his real name. I know; crazy right ? That year I had the chance to meet so many famous magicians that I hadn’t even know being existed, I had been learning, studying, eating, living… magic 24/7. I came back with another vision and a huge background knowledge of magic.
The second big change in my life was in 2015, when I decided to go to the University of Magic in El Escorial in Madrid. There, I had the chance to discover a new type of magic and meet the greatest magicians of our time. They were my teachers and some of them even became great Friends.
In 2016, I decided to move to Spain and that’s when I started to do magic in front of an audience. I‘ve had the pleasure to share the stage since then with great names such as Miguel Ángel Gea, LuisMa Miguel Muñoz, Mago Migue, Javi Benitez, …
